> **Pros**: Ab Initio is one of the top industry recognized ETL tool out there, it is a complex software that usually requires a small team to run but handles data or a large scale. I was system administrator for this software for over two years at a large financial company with several giant banks as clients with 50-150 million customers records in the databases.  It capable to handle complex and very large scale data extracting jobs. Ab Initio is flexible and can run on the popular databases such as Oracle or MS-SQL server, but it also requires these to have on your data servers therefore adding an additional expense to operate it ad Ab Initio client itself is also expensive (can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars\!) therefore only recommended for large companies dealing with very large scale data to work with. Regardless of it's complexity it has a quick and simple automated process to setup on the servers.

> **Cons**: It is complex often requiring a small team to operate it, also can be very expensive with just one client costing hundreds of thousands of dollars, also requires additional database apps to run in the background such as Oracle or MS-SQL which add even more to the already high costs.

> A very good software for very large companies, allows clients to logon remotely and run their data extraction work on the remote client servers, also stable and requires little intervention on the system side. Many users can run their work on it simultaneously and it handles complex queries on very large scale databases with millions of records.
