AthenaOne

5.0 8 months ago

Comments: We really like AthenaOne and are learning new things about it monthly. It is convenient and easy to use once you learn it. There are so many ways that AthenaOne makes everything easier that you almost get spoiled once you learn how to do something the easy way.

Pros:

I like that AthenaOne is easy to learn and once you can navigate the different fields, you can know everything that you need to know about our patients.

Cons:

AthenaOne has a lot of different fields and functions that are available. Learning everything there is to know and how they can help with your practice is almost a full-time job.

Frustrating!!!

1.0 9 months ago

Comments: Everything was fine when they had their old Legacy system, but they'd rather go with a "modern" -read: all white and runs together- look instead of improving upon a schedule that already worked. Genuinely, I would NEVER recommend them to anyone, and if I were in charge of switching our practice's interface, I'd ditch Athena so fast.

Pros:

The Legacy system is the only part of this system I like and use consistently. It's all right, but they're getting rid of it instead of improving the issues we've asked to have fixed.

Cons:

Where to start? The community aspect used to communicate with other users is only helpful when Athena feels that your voice matters, and unless you're kissing their feet, they couldn't care less about your comments/concerns. They'll merge or delete complaints about their new UI and refuse to ask their users for opinions before implementing a system that doesn't work. Then there's the fact that their new system isn't even user friendly! They would rather block you from commenting and voicing concerns than accept criticism on a broken system on the community page. On top of that, they'll send you the same script that DOES NOT answer your questions/comments/concerns instead of address the problem, then tell you to send complaints to their developing team, who in turn send you ANOTHER script. And don't even get me started on how many concerns/complaints have gone unsolved in the name of "modernity," or how their 'help' section answers almost no questions posed but will send you links to useless videos and threads that didn't answer the questions there, either. Utterly embarrassing. Needless to say, you'd be better off spending money on a company that actually asks its users on their opinion before implementing a broken UI and answers you.

Outstanding Software For Any Medical Facility

5.0 3 months ago

Comments: I work with athenaOne every day and I can't imagine my work day without it. It is very efficient and smooth, whether I'm checking in patients, adjusting the doctor's calendar, requesting or sending documents, viewing EMRs, or sending out communication to the patients; this software really does it all! The technical support team is also excellent at response time and effectively communicating resolutions to the rare times I have issues. I highly recommend to all medical facilities.

Pros:

AthenaOne has it all. It's an all-encompassing software, from checking in guests, to viewing EMRs, faxing documents, and communicating with patients; there is nothing else like it. The support team is quick to respond when there is an issue. It makes the work day so much more time-efficient and professional.

Cons:

The updates can be a bit disruptive, but they work quickly to resolve any issues.

Athena doesnt stand behind product

1.0 5 months ago

Comments: Poor, we were promised that it was going to do machine learning so that it would learn our protocols and tendencies, I have seen none of this.

Pros:

Ability to fax reports directly to providers

Cons:

Minimal to no responsiveness from the company, basically plug and play, and skim percentage of your profits. Awkward interface.

Perspective from a Medical Assistant

4.0 7 months ago

Comments: Overall I have enjoyed my use and time with AthenaHealth. I truly appreciated the in depth knowledge the trainers provided, and the time they spent with us following training to ensure we had all of our bases covered.

Pros:

As a CCMA I am accessing the EMR before, during and often after each visit. I have done everything from prior auths, RX refills, procedure documentation, clinic check-in, injections documentation, and so much more through Athena. I find that I can easily maneuver, document, update and communicate ia Athena systems. I appreciate the adequate training we received through Athena reps, and enjoy the flow of working in the system with ease and fluidity.

Cons:

Rarely, the system will not have the correct or specific code or med I am looking for. The database is wide and as a large offering, however, on a rare occasion i have to improvise.

Not a good choice for Behavioral Health (psychology, psychiatry, counseling, etc.)

3.0 3 years ago

Pros:

It is fast; automatically saves most of what you type in; does not crash very often (3-4 times/year); email support requests usually answered within 24 hours; online help knowledge base is comprehensive and it has a good search engine.

Cons:

Not designed for mental health EHR, patient management, communication. Primary care clinicians say it's "pretty good" although "EPIC is better". Most behavioral health clinicians do not like Athena (based on support forum polls and Athena even admits it if your decipher the corporate-speak.) Athena rarely designs workflows, templates, and processes for Behavioral Health. They cobble together features and processes used by primary care clinicians and staff and tell us it's designed for Behavioral Health. If Athena employs mental health professionals I've never seen them on video presentations or as authors of "how to" resources or anywhere else.

Easy to use communication with your providers

4.0 4 months ago

Comments: Overall, I use athenaOne frequently for managing my health!

Pros:

Easy to use and communicate with healthcare providers. Provides easy access to health records, test results, and messaging.

Cons:

Email notification lag. When you receive a message from your doctor, they will send an email to notify you, but the email comes hours after you've received the message.

Think of your Best Hire - that's Athena

5.0 12 months ago

Comments: Exceeding our expectations - consistently delivers - 100% recommend.

Pros:

Athena has a true "Skin in the game" model, their performance impacts their payment. Negligible start-up costs with great first year and on-going support as well as employees who engage with us to help us succeed and grow.

Cons:

We've had to engage with third party vendors for some services we feel Athena should be able to provide. That added cost is not optimal.

User Friendly

5.0 9 months ago

Comments: Overall I would choose Athena again and recommend it to my colleagues.

Pros:

AthenaOne does updates frequently to stay on top of the constant changes in healthcare. Training information is provided at each step of the way. The best feature is the live chat function that allows you access any assistance/troubleshooting needed in real time.

Cons:

The process to work claims on the back end takes some getting used to.

Pros:

The ease of everything being inside the patient chart.

Cons:

I know this is an option, but we have not opted to use it as an add on, but having to re-do medical billing work that Athena One's team has done incorrectly per our state governance.

Do NOT buy if you are small practice.

2.0 2 years ago

Comments: The doctor enjoys their clinical charting experience, but administratively athena is terrible. It requires way too many clicks to do anything. You have to use their billing and their outsourced billers are not good. There is no critical thinking and claims issues (even simple ones) constantly end up in the practices worklist, but you're paying an arm & leg for them to do it. Customer service is not helpful. It takes multiple phone calls and messages to get a resolution. You need more administrative and billing staff to work athena than you would need for other EHR's. For reference, I have been using athena for 5 years and am still confused about most functionalities.

Pros:

The doctor likes the charting. The patient portal is ok.

Cons:

Billing, claims, reporting, schedule templating, customer service, MIP/Quality Measures
