Well built all-in-one tool for running a photography business

5.0 9 months ago

Comments: I started out with just the Client Gallery Hosting version of Pixieset, but added the whole suite later as my business grew. I was swayed to the complete suite when they offered the Studio Manager feature, which allows you to schedule photography shoots and events.

Pros:

Pixieset's interface for managing its 5 applications is very well made and easy to use. It allows total control of the customization and upkeep of all aspects of your business from Client Gallery, Website, Store and Studio Manager.

Cons:

The larger Pixieset app packages for all applications can be a bit of an investment for photographers starting out. But the time you save by using Pixieset and its tools, can be applied to photoshoot and making money.

Perfect for me!

5.0 3 years ago

Pros:

I’ve used pixieset for years and can’t be more pleased with all the features it’s offered and continues to add to. I’ve never had any issues and it’s affordability is an appreciated asset. I suggest this software to anyone in my business. As a technologically challenged individual, I assure you, you can’t go wrong.

Cons:

I really have no complaints other than the lack of mobile features and capabilities on the photographers side.

An unpleasant experience for the amount of money they are asking for!

1.0 2 months ago

Comments: An expensive interface, which I don't know if it's worth the money!

Pros:

It is easy to work in Pixieset. It has very intuitive buttons and offers great galleries

Cons:

The support is very weak, and the problems and bugs are countless. If you want to send the gallery to some clients, you often have to make sure it works. A whopping $35/month for something like this.

My Favorite Gallery Software

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: I have used Pixieset for almost 7 years. It has been my go-to for delivery of client images and I plan to use it for many more years to come. I know the images are safe on the pixieset cloud and easily accessible to clients.

Pros:

I love how professional pixieset looks and how easy it is for my clients to access their full resolution digital files. They can also order prints and download images. It's great for proofing and reviewing images as well.

Cons:

Sometimes clients have a difficult time downloading the images.

I Use Pixiest For My Website & Proofing

5.0 3 years ago

Pros:

I absolutely love Pixieset! I couldn't beat the price and quality for bundling a website and a proofing system. The program automatically loads your watermark to all the photos you all you would need to worry about is uploading and sending. It's overall a simple program to use.

Cons:

The tutorials for submitting your images are outdated so I had to create my own as all of my customers struggle to understand it.

Best way to Deliver Photos in the 21st Century

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: I found it was easier than uploading to google drive and easier than I could have imagined delivering to the clients. It was easy to download and it even lets the customers choose .zip files when downloading. So, they don't have to go picture by picture.

Pros:

I love that this software because I can deliver photos in the cleanest light. I found that my clients came back to me and said (why have we never done this before). The way we can upload the photos is to keep our branding make this look professional and stay within budget.

Cons:

The free version lets us hold up to 3000 photos, which is decent, but the pricing past the free version gets to be a little more expensive than I thought.

Fantastic service with one major flaw

3.0 3 months ago

Comments: A fantastic service that ultimately led me to feel like I was locked into their service due to the extremely inefficient ways of downloading your own pictures.

Pros:

Very easy to use and constantly updating. I never felt the need to find a different hosting service. Galleries were always very professional looking with very little effort required. Their POD side of things weren't the greatest, and often way too expensive. Overall, I was very happy with the service they provided

Cons:

Migrating to a different platform was actually quite the pain. I don't backup my photography physically, I used Pixieset as my primary source of my photos as cloud hosting is significantly more reliable than hosting on a physical drive. This was great and all, but gallery organization was very average at best but that was even the major downfall. I made the switch to start using Amazon Photos as my cloud backup, and it is clear Pixieset wants to make bulk downloading a very difficult task. This was the last thing I expected and overall the reason I give them 3 stars. I felt very locked into the service with 10k+ pictures and 300-400 albums and galleries. When asking their support staff if they offered any bulk downloading solutions, they said they do not. Each of my galleries are locked by a PIN with the option to download entire galleries turn off... So I had to go into each gallery, one by one, turn off the PIN and allow gallery download, so that I can go in and view my own galleries like a client would and download all my galleries... A serious pain in the butt. Took Migrating to Amazon Photos took about 7 hours (not counting upload times). You can't even download entire galleries from the back-end. The only way to download your galleries is to do it just like your Client would... where you input your email, and they let you know when the gallery is ready to download. Insane for a photo service in 2024.

Pros:

Pixieset has the most beautiful and easy website design. If you are wanting something you can throw together quickly but looks expensive, Pixieset is for you.

Cons:

Although I appreciate the effort being brought about by the studio management portion, it just isn't working for me.

Good option for gallery hosting

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: Overall I had a good experience for the amount of time I've used Pixieset. It was really easy to upload and deploy galleries, send to my clients and guests, I loved the gallery PIN option as well. Favoriting images was very easy both on my end and clients' end and it made my life easy when time came for me to design artwork for printing.

Pros:

I have used Pixieset for around 6 years. I used it for mainly gallery hosting, although I did have very few print and digital files sales through the system when they later implemented the Store option.

Cons:

I did try the website option as beta testing, but it was incredibly limited for me as a more seasoned photographer. For someone else who would be a beginner photographer, I would totally recommend it, as it is a nice and quick drag and drop option, but in the long run, you are stuck with something limiting, especially in terms of SEO and design. Now that they have purchased Flothemes, things may change for the better, so we will see where that goes.

Pixieset for Photographers

5.0 6 months ago

Comments: I have been very happy with it over the past 6 months of using it for my business.

Pros:

I love the customer support offered in Pixieset. Their editor is very easy to use and everything is tailored to photographers' needs which is nice compared to other similar software.

Cons:

Sometimes I wish I could customize more, but the ease of use makes it worth it to give up a little of that.

Easy to use for photographers at a great price

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Pixieset streamlines my workflow to easily send and proof client images.

Pros:

I have been using Pixiset since 2014. I love Pixieset because it allows my customers to easily download their ordered images both on a computer and on their mobile device. I also like how easy it is to have clients purchase prints directly through their gallery. I also love that PNG files are now supported. I also love how there are tiers for the subscriptions. I use the Pro 1,000 GB plan.

Cons:

I wish there was a way to make a gallery to be automatically "published" instead of always having to click "publish" after uploading the images to send to a client. I also would like to see more customization for how the images are displayed to the client. Maybe have it look more "corporate" in some cases. I do however wish the shopping cart would integrate with Square instead of Stripe

Easy and beautiful galleries

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: I love that I can upload my files and have templates to send to my clients for them to download. I can keep up the galleries for portfolio work as well.

Pros:

I love that my galleries look seamless for delivery to clients and that the storefront to purchase prints is built in

Cons:

The size cap for the space is a bit low, it's more cost effective to pay for a year than month by month

Superb Professional Wedding Photography Portfolio

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Pixieset has taken our business to a professional level and gone some way in generating more business. It’s easy to use and plays a central role in our business.

Pros:

No matter how good your photos Pixieset makes them look sensational. My clients adore their albums this way. It’s also a fantastic way of sharing pix with family and friends using the link and password. Relatively easy to create the portfolio and can be done quickly. They also provide a free site builder which looks great.

Cons:

I do believe it’s a little pricey despite being a huge fan. To be honest that’s all I dislike

Already good but could be great

4.0 3 years ago

Comments: Overall it’s good and it’s my main website for my business. It could use some improvements and move a little faster to be up to speed with similar services from other companies.

Pros:

It’s easy to use and has great options for customizing the look of your site. It’s also simple for customers to navigate on their side. One other great feature is being able to set custom price sheets for different types of photo sessions.

Cons:

They’re expanding the CRM side but a scheduling feature would be great to have. It seems like they are slow to add features that would make it all-inclusive. There is also no phone contact for support and it all has to go through email. While I understand that more features cost money, but I feel like they nickel-and-done for everything, including using your own domain.

Crazy commission charges on FREE account

2.0 3 years ago

Comments: It doesn't make sense to charge commission that totals to almost the same amount as a full account and then on top of this deliver reduced quality images because it is a free account.

Pros:

It was easy to use and did enjoy using Pixieset while I had the PAID plan.

Cons:

During the pandemic I did not get photography work so I cancelled my Pixieset account. I just started slowly getting clients again, so I contacted Pixieset and asked them to reinstate my account but this time, I just wanted a FREE account until my business picks up again. I know and accepted the term that there will be commission charges - but, I work with mini sessions and I included 30 digital images in my package for my client, provided her with a coupon code and when she checked out with this coupon code, I got charged $45 (because i marked the images as $10 each - but the client did not pay this to me as these images were included in her package) - which is ridiculous as this is just $3 short of an entire full account. And that being said, the client then download these images at a reduced quality because this is a FREE account.

Very Easy to Use!

4.0 3 years ago

Comments: I absolutely love the ease with Pixieset. I never have an issue with uploading images, clients not receiving images, or system being down. Which is something I dealt with other companies.

Pros:

It's very easy to use, never had any issues with uploading photos, system being down.

Cons:

Clients get a little confused when downloading images, but once I walk them through the process step by step, it works out.

Pros:

Pixieset is easy to use. It has a really simple interface, is great for client use and makes sending albums simple.

Cons:

Pixieset's development seems to have stagnated. Where competitors are addign functionality, Pixieset is dropping behind.

Great product -but still missing some features.

4.0 3 years ago

Comments: Lovely experience with them - but just need something more to ensure I keep up as my client base grows.

Pros:

The website and gallery option is great for clients and marketing.

Cons:

The lack of studio management options is a bit detrimental -as you still need to buy an extra product for this. Their Beta is currently out and it seems to be working well.
