Our go to for a martial arts facility management system

Pros:

displays all the information i need with easy to use navigation and simplified interface.

Cons:

certain settings are hard to find. It would be nice to have them all in one tab called "settings" with tabs within that to separate payments, memberships etc.

Awesome software

Comments: Product is great and customer service is great. Any time we have had a problem, which has been very few times, they have responded and resolved quickly

Pros:

So easy to use I was able to set it up myself and learn quickly.

Cons:

Nothing really it’s very functional for our needs

TERRIBLE customer service and support--simply terrible.

Comments: Terrible. I am cancelling and going with the company's competitor. At least they provide a customer service phone number.

Pros:

It is an OKAY membership management platform.

Cons:

Gymdesk's customer service and support is TERRIBLE. For one, they do not provide a phone number at ALL. After several emails asking for a callback, someone responded back that they do NOT do CALLBACKS but that they would SCHEDULE a customer service call. Really? Okay, yes, let's do that. What a pain. Especially because I am calling about the 3 THREE charges a month that my $75 a month service is supposed to cost.

Great product for my dojo

Comments: Very good product. Easy to use for members and staff.

Pros:

Supports staff and clients well. Easy to set up.

Cons:

Still having some trouble with tax reconciliation.

Fairly priced and full of features that we need

Comments: Very satisfied with the amount of features and customer support when I do run into issues

Pros:

Managing capacities per class is crucial. I want to places can do auto billing but to be able to reserve the amount of spots per class and be able to see how many are taken incentivize users to book their class is ahead of time. One thing I would like to see them implement is allowing me too cut off the window. 15 minutes out. They allow intervals of hours or days, I would like to see them add minutes so that I can close the window. 15 minutes before class starts so that people can’t register or cancel in that timeframe.

Cons:

Would like to be able to cancel sign in/cancellation 15 minutes out

Great product

Comments: Fantastic really. We really jumped feet first when deciding to take over a gym with very little prior experience with back-end knowledge and this program really made it so much easier.

Pros:

We love how Gymdesk makes life so much easier for our business. The overall look of the program is great and the functionality of it has exceeded our expectations. Customer service has been excellent to work with any time we run into a snag.

Cons:

We would like to be able to schedule members in "spots" in class (like movie theater or plane seating) to incentivize early booking for classes. It would help us be better prepared and discourage last minute booking.

Great ongoing support

Comments: Great, highly recommended. I've used it for over a year and plan to continue on it as my gym grows and expands.

Pros:

The support is great. I usually will receive email replies within the day if not within 1-2 hours if enquiry is sent in their timezone. This is extremely important sometimes as members may be waiting to make payment or book classes etc. Also it is web based so I can pretty much do everything with my smartphone browser. They provide a pretty decent website along with the monthly subscription which is vital to small business owners like me as I didn't want to sink in website design and start up cost.

Cons:

There are some functions which cannot be personalised or changed but can find ways to work around it. For eg, credits are deducted upon booking and not attendance. Just have to adjust our policies around it.

Comments: Amazing customer service. Great software for members and administration.

Pros:

Ease of use for myself and members. Website development. Customer Service.

Cons:

There are some filters I could use with Mindbody when running reports or creating back end changes which make things easier.However I have only thought this once or twice in my year of using their software and it does not impact my operations.

Alternatives Considered: Acuity Scheduling

Reasons for Switching to Gymdesk: The trial was incredible. The setup was easy and fun. Great member feedback.

Excellent software to manage a martial arts school

Comments: I don't have to manually keep tabs on when students need to pay. It's much easier to have the system remind them rather than me. I like that fact that I can run the website, billing, attendance, and marketing all in one system!

Pros:

The system is very straightforward and not difficult to learn. The support is fantastic. Any questions I had were addressed in a very timely manner. The price is right for a small martial arts school to be able to save time managing the business side of running a school.

Cons:

Overall, the software is great but some a couple more customizations would be nice. Being able to customize the dashboard to display what is most important to the administrator. More customization on the website. Example, being able to change the link "Book" on the schedule to something else like "Free Trial Class". I use the booking function for leads rather than students. The check in screen can also be a little easier. Possibly have student names listed that are able to check in to next session available so they can just click on it.

Alternatives Considered: Zen Planner and Mindbody

Reasons for Switching to Gymdesk: The biggest draw was the price and the ability to try the software for free.

Best Martial Arts Specific Software We've Used, Exceptional Customer Service

Comments: The customer service with MAonRails has been fantastic. Eran goes out of his way to help and answers quickly. They were also willing to work with us on price which for a small school is greatly appreciated.

Pros:

The interface is clean, easy to navigate for students and administrator. Easy to customize and get up and running quickly. Like the family account feature, belt ranks are easy to create, add, and modify. Customer Service is fantastic, quick answers and always willing to help.

Cons:

That each document cannot have a customizable email saved. A bit difficult to navigate belt ranks when different classes can count towards time in grade. Also, the gym schedule is not great. Would like to see a month at a time.

Martial Arts on Rails Review

Comments: We were looking for a product to manage a small wrestling club and strength training business. We do not have a full-time manager and most of the products were overly complicated. Martial Arts on Rails has turned out to be the perfect solution.

Pros:

The software is extremely easy to set-up and use, yet it has sufficient flexibility to manage our club in the way we want to operate. Interface is excellent and intuitive. The ability to create a website and easily integrate with a payment gateway was also excellent. Finally, customer support is to notch.

Cons:

At first I was concerned that it did not have a corresponding App but the website works great on a cell phone and this has not been an issue. The product team continues to add features and improve functionality. No concerns.

Easy to keep track of visitors/potential new members. Great dashboard overview to see quickly any overdue fees and information

Cons:

We run a lot of kids classes where a day(s) needs to be selected for them to enrol. Currently we need to create a lot of day combinations to accommodate this

Dojo, Done Easy!

Comments: Its been an absolute breeze to run my Dojo from start to finish. My experience has been wonderfull and I would definitely recommend Gymdesk to any Dojo or Fitness business.

Pros:

Gymdesk allows me to automatically send my invoices and generate new ones without me needing to amend or change anything. I save so much time through Gymdesk and I love that i can do everything from a mobile device.

Cons:

Honestly, I am yet so see anything that I dont like.

A Must have for Gym Owners

Comments: Gymdesk is a lifesaver. I am able to organize all of my work flow in one system. I love the membership renewal, the personalized website, the group text message marketing, the online store for selling our products, and so much more!! It’s definitely a must have for all gym owners. There are so any features to use. I love Gymdesk and will never change. They are truly the best!!

Pros:

I absolutely love Gymdesk memberships management.

Cons:

I really cannot find anything that I least like at this moment.

Comments: Overall this really help boost your dreams. Getting this software management application is a must have, even when starting up!

Pros:

Effortless and easy for management of your school as a manager. Easy process for your students to sign up .

Cons:

I would like to have an application (App) on my mobile via Google Play, or AppStore. No complaints.

Comments: Very positive experience overall. Customer service is amazing and I have no plans on changing software.

Pros:

I really enjoy how easy it is to set up memberships, schedules, personal training and other sales using Martial Arts on Rails. Loads of flexibility for payments and how you choose tot run your business. We're a small, not for profit boxing gym so flexibility was absolute key.

Cons:

I would like if there were a way to track athletes progress more a long with coaching plans so I could keep everything in one place more efficiently. Also, I know its not in the cards and it's not a huge deal- but would be amazing if there were an app.

Great martial arts management software

Pros:

Great membership management, auto billing which is important, attendance tracking, sales & marketing Are great. The only email and text function is a game changer too! You have to pay a little extra but it’s a huge life saver to send messages out quickly to all members or to certain members.

Cons:

I’d like to see this software give the member the ability to track their progress according to the program, ranks and promotion requirements. For example, when I set certain skills for a particular rank, the student cannot see what those skills are on their one member portal. They can see what rank they are, but not the skills associated with the rank.

Pros:

Having used a couple products prior, this one works best for our schools, because of the size, the affordability and features. We use to have to carry hard copies of paperwork/release now we can pull it at any location, even at tournaments sites if needed.

Cons:

The inability to just read or replay to messages seems to be a bit problematic as I get email notifiations, but, if I don't read the email or on the message screen, those messages may go unanswered for some time.

Comments: My overall experience has been positive. [SENSITIVE CONTENT] is very responsive to email questions. The software system meets my needs and is cost effective. I still have more to learn about it’s functionality but things are going well.

Pros:

Ease of accessibility to manage many aspects of the club I operate

Cons:

The amount of times I’ve had to reach out for assistance. The FAQs are helpful but not as clear as they could be

Fantastic product and customer service

Comments: Fantastic- great product, even better customer service- have sent multiple questions via email and have always received detailed and fast replies.

Pros:

Clean, intuitive UI that is very easy to use and maintain our memberships. great product, even better customer service.

Cons:

when i started using this software, there was no integration with GoCardless- however since then, Gymdesk has implemented this! They were great at communicating the update to us.
