Very solid value EMR

5.0 6 years ago

Comments: For us, it was a system that would be device agnostic. Charm works on any computer or mobile device with an HTML5 compliant browser.

Pros:

Easy to get started. Has a very approachable user interface. Easy learning curve. Always improving. The company listens to customers and incorporates improvements based on feedback. Comparatively very inexpensive. Integrates with labs, erx solutions, and e-commerce solutions.

Cons:

Customer Service is offshore and is not "real-time". But they do respond and are usually helpful. It is a trade-off for the pricing of the software. Some design issues in billing involving the integrated billing clearinghouse and downloading ERA's, and real-time eligibility verification requires a workaround to normal practices.

Very customizable

5.0 5 months ago

Comments: Really good experience. Other than occasional slow response time of technical team, I am pleased.

Pros:

Intuitiveness. Easy to use. Customizable templates, macros, user roles. Integrated instant messaging for staff, text messaging for patients, fax, referral management. Ability to customize automation of the RCM.

Cons:

Onboarding is brief and not very detailed. However, the intuitiveness sort of compensates. Also, time to response when you reach out for technical support can vary. Sometimes immediately, at other times can take up to a week.

Terrible customer service

1.0 last month New

Comments: I regret signing up. I signed up in February of 2024 and do not have all features activated that they have charged me for. They also charge a fee for PDMP and its free to access in my state. They also charge to send text reminders.

Pros:

It is easy for my collaborating MD to sign my charts. Ability to have multiple locations.

Cons:

The customer service sucks! It takes them forever to address tickets. The erx and EPCS set up has taken more than 4 months for me. I trialed another EHR and I was set to go in a week. They seem pretty nonchalant about ehr issues.

Long Term Charm User

5.0 2 weeks ago New

Pros:

I enjoy being able to have access to multiple facilities, and the ability to customize appointments, encounters, and pt portal/demographics. Charm is also very user friendly.

Cons:

We are a high volume clinic, needing a more personalized scheduling system. Ex: Max patients scheduled at one time, staff break time block offs where no one can be booked, switching patients to each facility from their appointments page.

Review of CharmHealth from a solo practitioner

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: I really appreciate the online scheduling feature. As a solo practitioner (with no admin support staff), this has been an extremely helpful feature. My patients love it! It saves a lot of time for me and it encourages patients to schedule multiple appointments as they see the scheduling filling up. Thank you!

Pros:

I really appreciate the availability of the support staff. I have used the online chat several times, and most of the time my question is answered in a few minutes. With more complex questions, I still get a response within a day or two. Thank you! I also really appreciate the ease of updating/personalizing my Charm account for online scheduling and appointment types.

Cons:

I work with several compounding pharmacies and it is extremely difficult to write a prescription for a compounded prescription through Charm. Several of the standard pharmacies in our community do not like the way that the fax or e-prescribe feature places the electronic signature - it is difficult for them to determine if it is signed "dispense as written," or if it is signed as "substitution permitted." When I started to use the e-prescribe feature last year, I received several phone calls wanting to verify prescriptions after I sent them through Charm. As a result, I am no longer using the e-prescribing feature and I am calling in my prescriptions or using a paper prescription pad. I like the options for customizing the templates. I would like it even more if there was a feature to "publish" the treatment plan before signing the full chart - sometimes a telemedicine patient needs the information quickly, and may not have time to wait until I finish my charting at the end of the day. I would also like it if the sections for typing chart notes took up more vertical space. For example, I can only see about 10 lines of text as I am taking notes, and it would be helpful if those spaces were expanded vertically. Perhaps the patient info at the top of the chart could be condensed to the left side so that the charting space could expand vertically.

The worst EHR for a medical doctor

1.0 last year

Comments: This is the WORST EHR ever. Totally inefficient. Wastes hours of time day in and day out. Absolutely horrible help. They never call back or fix the issue. They might fix 1/5 issues after 10 days. DO NOT GET THIS EHR!!! I would change if I were not in an office of naturopaths who have used it before I joined this office.

Pros:

Nothing good compares to the bad. This program is the WORST

Cons:

This is the worse EHR I have ever used. It is clunky. It wastes so much time. it does not alphabetize drop-down lists. It accesses a database for ICD10 Codes that is completely unusable and a total waste of time. It has completely lost medical records that it should be saving after 1 hour of work. The customer service is TERRIBLE. They will not fix your program. You are asked to write them with your issue but the issues are NEVER fixed, nor does anyone ever call you back. It lists diagnosis codes that are incorrect and therefore put you at medical legal risk. And they charge you every time you ask a question or make a record to try something out during programming.

Loaded with Features, Expands with Your Practice.

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: Overall, I'd definitely recommend this to small practices looking for a work horse to help them streamline their practice. It's a bit tricky to use initially, but it's well worth figuring it out. They are also constantly updating and adding features to make my life easier.

Pros:

I have been using Charm for almost 2 years now, and once you get it set up right, it generally saves me a lot of time. I'm a solo practitioner, so having all of the integrated features is a game changer for me. It meets HIPAA guidelines, generates personalized templates for supplement protocols, has templates for visit types/different charts, and it is free until you have over 50 clients regularly coming in monthly.

Cons:

It has a steep learning curve initially, but it's easy to pick up by watching a few videos. Customer service is also great about getting back to you in a couple of days about any of your concerns or feedback.

Best EHR I've used

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: ChARM has been a great experience, with integrated billing, inventory, practice management, and patient scheduling.

Pros:

I've used several EHR and PM systems in the past and wasn't impressed until I tried Charm. It has all of the features that we need integrated into one very intuitive system.

Cons:

There are some bugs when new features are released, but they are quickly remedied.

Charm EHR for Psychiatric Private Practice

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: Overall, I am very pleased and feel excited to start to use even more features that I am using right now. I would recommend Charm to anyone starting in private practice in psychiatry. I am very grateful I found Charm!

Pros:

I have found Charm quite straightforward for writing notes and managing patients's charts. I moved to Charm from 11 years of paper charts and was certainly nervous to move to an electronic record. I heard from a colleague that Charm had fabulous customer support and that is what made me give it a try. I absolutely can say that I have gotten excellent customer support from Charm. I feel that I still have a lot of functionality of Charm to understand better but what I am using right now meets my needs and I am sure that as I explore more of what Charm has to offer as an EMR my practice will get even more efficient. I went from being scared to start an EMR to excited to have one in 3 weeks with the excellent support. That is pretty awesome!

Cons:

I really can't say yet what I don't like about Charm because I have not fully started working with all that charm offers. It's a little overwhelming to get started but I feel Charm support staff helped me through that.

Affordable option

4.0 last year

Pros:

This is the most affordable option out there and really provides you the option to grow. If you are a new practice and don't need a lot of bells and whistles, then this is a great option. Fancier features cost more.

Cons:

My main gripe was with the online booking. There was no way to customize menus or offer links for one service so the patient is presented with every service available for online booking in alphabetical order. No way to change the order unless you get creative with naming of services. There is also only one option for integrated payment processing which was not good for me, especially since that company took 6 months to respond to me about opening an account.

Happy as I could be

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: I use charm to it's fullest extent. It has literally changed and helped my practice grow. They are always improving and making updates to the software and are good at listening to customers needs. Customer service could be faster but once you get up and running it is an excellent product.

Pros:

Documentation & scheduling as well as inventory modules are critical to the success of my clinic and movement of patients through the day.

Cons:

Customer service really could be a lot faster. It always takes at least 24 hours if not more for questions to be answered no matter how simple they are.

very good basic free program

3.0 7 years ago

Comments: headaches, learning new interface (why? why? why?)

Pros:

well, originally it was the ease of use but with this new user interface...not so certain. Like the charting feature, easy to populate fields. Also like the patient communication it provides and tracks.

Cons:

the new user interface has too many too small icons with too much info on the desktop. gotta figure out what all these silly icons represent. also why make such a large leap away from what all users are familar with?

8+ years of Charm

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: I have worked with Charm EHR for about 8 years now. I love their no nonsense approach to charting. Support is always helpful

Pros:

I love the customizability of this EMR. Also our chart notes are not 6 pages of filler. Charm is always adding new features and updating things behind the scenes.

Cons:

As with any system there is always a little thing here or there but no cons to talk about.

I like there software in general, scheduling and itemizing unique purchases and price. This is all good if they had customer service.

Charm Review

4.0 4 years ago

Comments: Overall I am happy we made the switch. The transition was difficult in the start but has been good otherwise.

Pros:

Overall, we a happy with the system and the ease or using it. You can customize Charm based on specific needs or wants. I am very happy with the RCM team and how they take time out to make sure you understand and all your questions are answered

Cons:

The initial setup was difficult. I did not feel we got great support with the initial set up. Due to not understanding the system we were left to figure it out or would just get written instructions which is fine, but difficult when you are starting up a new system and trying to keep your practice up and running. However after the initial setup and with the continued training with the RCM department it has been much better.

ChARM is the cheapest EMR out there...I think.

4.0 5 years ago

Comments: Just okay. But it’s virtually free in many circumstances...

Pros:

Cost. It’s free until a certain number of charts, but still has high functionality. You can pay monthly premiums for an internal medical records fax option. There are additional features with premiums, but the fax option is the only one I’ve used and can recommend. Charm has a relatively slick new OS. Patients can have linked accounts between clinics so they can check internal messaging and treatment protocols from multiple facilities with 1 login.

Cons:

Charm’s ability to create billing statements, and comprehensive receipts is very limited. It’s customer service is near non-existant. With email only options to communicate, you can expect your first response to come somewhere between 1-3 business days. The initial response is usually something generic that’s been copy pasted and you’ll have to go back and forth a few times to get a response that actually matches your circumstance.
