This software is making my life a lot easier!

5.0 last year

Comments: Excellent - see above. I have really only positive things to say.

Pros:

I consider myself somewhat of a power user so I tend to be very critical of software but I have been really pleasantly surprised with the functionality and well-thought out nature of the program. I feel that I have already gained quite a bit of efficiency in my charting since making the transition a few weeks ago from our old platform (Impromed Infinity). Unlike other software that I have used or demo'd, Instinct feels fresh and modern whereas most others have a very Windows 95 or DOS vibe. They are constantly adding new features and seem genuinely receptive to feedback and to be striving to make the product better all the time. The platform is very responsive, works well on mobile devices and both mac/PC, and I love the cloud aspect of it. It's been a huge benefit to not have to maintain a local server and backup. It is highly customizable and generally intuitive and even fun to use. Switching EMRs is usually a highly stressful event for a veterinary staff (I have experienced this a few times in the past) and I feel like this transition has been super smooth and relatively painless. The reason that we switched to Instinct in the first place is the excellent functionality of their digital treatment board. Really this part of the software is unique in the market and no other company is even close. It allowed us, even in a 24/7 ER setting, to go completely paperless with our treatment/flow sheets and the staff finds it very easy to use. The thing that I am most excited about as a business owner is the ability to capture/recapture missed charges now that we have full integration of the treatment board and invoicing. I have also been thrilled with the responsiveness and availability of the support - this is probably among my favorite features. You get nearly immediate chat support 24/7! I'm excited to see the new features that lay ahead!

Cons:

Like any program, there are a few minor bugs but the team is generally quite responsive to these. There are also a few fairly standard features that are missing from the charting section but I am confident that these will be fixed/added in the near future. I have some worries about what happens if we lose internet connection since there is no local copy but with fiber and battery backup, this is mostly a theoretical concern.

Instinct review

5.0 7 months ago

Pros:

Instinct Science provides a platform that allows for the comprehensive management of patient records. This includes everything from medical histories and treatment plans to diagnostic results and billing information. Having all this information centralized and easily accessible streamlines workflows and improves patient care. The customer support is also UNMATCHED! Fantastic customer support team.

Cons:

One significant frustration with Instinct Science lies in its lack of flexibility regarding document management, particularly the inability to edit document names once they're uploaded. This limitation can be especially problematic in fast-paced emergency room settings, where accuracy and efficiency are paramount. Typos or inaccuracies in document titles are not uncommon, and the absence of a simple editing feature means that veterinary staff must resort to cumbersome workarounds, such as downloading and re-uploading files, just to make minor corrections. This process is time-consuming and counterproductive, detracting from the goal of maintaining organized and professional patient records. The frustration extends beyond document titles to other features, such as vaccine uploads, highlighting a broader issue with the platform's lack of editability post-upload. Addressing this limitation could greatly enhance usability and streamline record-keeping processes for veterinary professionals.

So easy to learn

5.0 7 months ago

Comments: Excellent, the support is so easy to use

Pros:

How logical it is to use and to teach other doctors to use

Cons:

Nothing really, it had only recently been release in the EMR so the initial integration was a little less efficient. It was anticipated though being a new program.

My favorite electronic medical record system

5.0 6 months ago

Comments: I've used Instinct in 4 hospitals over the last 10 years and feel it has positively impacted the quality of medicine, the quality of medical records, and ease of writing records in all locations after it was brought in.

Pros:

I love the ease of adjusting medications and the at-a-glance summary of vitals, fluids, medications/doses/timing across a 24-hour period. No need to interpret other people's handwriting. Easy to adjust to your hospital's specific needs with customer service.

Cons:

That not every hospital I go to uses it. It's occasionally annoying to try to match up units on new drugs entered into the system, but generally easy to figure out/work around.

Overall great, has a few kinks to work out.

5.0 7 months ago

Pros:

I enjoy that I can find everything that I need with ease the majority of the time. There are very clear ways to do tasks vs having multiple ways to do them. Keeping up with communication is easy and concise so long as everything is documented appropriately.

Cons:

There are some features that could be a bit better. For example, I think that the texting/ client chat feature is great, but when a client responds we have no way of knowing since it does not notify you. 2nd is a new change, I do not like that you cannot "pin" or "upload" a document to stay that the TOP of the chart of the reminded of the pet's record. Things such as client/patient registration sheets are vital to the clinic, and we now have to go hunting for them in the record. I have already put in a feature/ticket request to have this done.

Feels Instinct-ual!

5.0 7 months ago

Comments: Overall, it has been a great experience working with Instinct. I love that they are constantly working to make the platform better and they are very receptive to our feedback about what is working and what products/features we'd love to see developed.

Pros:

The ease of use! It takes almost no time at all to learn the various parts of Instinct. From the treatment sheets, to the charting, to the Rx module- each piece seems to just make sense.

Cons:

The more integration with other software, the better. For example: we have Instinct integrated with Idexx, and the more platforms that all communicate easily, the better! I know this has been a huge priority for Instinct, and their product development team is extremely receptive to requests for new integrations.

The future of veterinary medicine

5.0 7 months ago

Comments: From start to finish, the team behind Instinct has been wonderful to work with. The rollout of Instinct was incredibly smooth and is a testament to the user-friendliness and intuitiveness of the product. Instinct makes our hospital run more efficiently and promotes better patient care.

Pros:

Intuitive, user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing, continuously improving and frequent updates, incredibly responsive customer service.

Cons:

difficult to use for monitoring things that are more frequent than hourly such as transfusion monitoring (q15 min), pressor titration (q5-30min), etc.

Instinct is so user friendly and efficient

5.0 7 months ago

Pros:

I love being able to contact the team about any concerns we have. They are so fast in their response. I love being able to put notes on my treatments. It's much better than just checking a box.

Cons:

It is super easy to go back and change things so that may be difficult to control if you have untrustworthy people working with you. Not a problem at our clinic but, it's something to keep in mind if you don't trust your team.

Highly recommend

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: We can be much more detail oriented. Less treatments get missed. More charges are captured. Very user friendly if you are taught properly and use the program consistently.

Pros:

I love that you can customize this to each hospital. I appreciate the customer service and how friendly they always are. You can create new products or warnings that help staff with more information and less mistakes to be made. We currently use this software with cornerstone, but I did get to use the demo for the full program and its amazing. I'm hoping we get to have it at our hospital soon.

Cons:

I would like to see admin staff be able to adjust the vitals instead of just the instinct staff. We have IV fluid bags linked to our IVF rate line and every time we input a new rate through the vitals section, it will input that bag of fluids. It didnt do this when we first got the program but it started like 3 months later. I would like a way to assign technicians to the patient for the day vs just for that moment. I know we can assign ourselves to the patient, but if we could color code them so 1 of the 2 ICU nurses could tag that patient as theirs for the day and then assign themselves when they're working on them like we already do. Hope this made sense.

Instinct Science Response

last year

Hi Chrystina, Thank you for taking the time to review Instinct and for your positive feedback! We would love to hear more about your current issues with the vitals section and charges. In terms of the patient care team, you can add the name of the nurse in charge of the patient within the patient info bar, but putting this information under the signalment & reason for visit and also listing them in the Care Team. It is also a good idea to have the nurse in charge of a patient pin the patient to their My Board to filter out other patients and only see those they are responsible for. Feel free to reach out to me at [email protected] or via support chat (chat bubble icon in the bottom left navy sidebar) so we can help figure out your current concerns. Best, Caroline

Wonderful

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Instinct is a very straight-forward platform that makes it easy for everyone!

Pros:

We use Instinct daily at my practice, and the ease of function is fantastic. Everything is very straight forward, and documents are easily uploaded.

Cons:

I do not enjoy that a patient has to be checked in to print name labels or fill medications for them.

Instinct Science Response

Hi Kendall, Thank you for taking the time to review Instinct Science and for your positive feedback. With regards to your concerns about filling prescriptions and printing labels, this should be resolved with our standalone invoicing! A new invoice can be started on the invoice tab and a prescription can be filled without checking a patient into the hospital. Patient labels can be printed by selecting the “Print Patient Label” button at the bottom of the Chart screen. https://capture.dropbox.com/pIFG0KgBfX7nUWCl If you need further help with this, please reach out to us via support chat (chat bubble in the bottom left navy sidebar) or via e-mail ([email protected]). Instinct is life changing as an ER doctor

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: As said above-mostly importantly Instinct has improved our medicine and patient care in both our ER and Specialty departments. It has greatly improved our efficiency on the ER floor and helped us catch alot of missed charges. I can't say enough about Instinct. As the Medical Director I can proudly say it life changing for all our staff and has helped us practice better medicine and deliver better patient care!

Pros:

Instinct is truly-instinctual...easy to use and easy to train. Greatly improves patient care and monitoring.Any ER doctor can tell another ER doctor designed Instinct...everything makes sense and encourages efficiency on the ER floor.Incredible with the amount of charges that we saved and captured instead of being forgotten/lost charges.Instinct has lessened our medical errors.

Cons:

We are excited for the addition of the inventory section.

BEST software I have ever used

5.0 2 years ago

Pros:

Throughout my 20+ career I have used many types of veterinary practice software, and Instinct is by far the most comprehensive and user friendly of all. Anytime I need help, the response is nearly immediate. Anytime I have feedback or suggestions, my critique is accepted graciously. What I truly appreciate is the software is created by people in the veterinary field who actually use the technology and have a clear idea of what is important.

Cons:

I am anxiously awaiting a refined version of anesthetic monitoring!

Indispensable online treatment management that works seamlessly for doctors + nurses

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Excellent experience-having used paper treatment sheets and other online treatment systems, Instinct is far superior. It is easy to use and helps with hospital flow for both doctors and nurses. Helps ensure patients are receiving timely treatments, VASTLY decreases likelihood of medication errors with the help of Plumbs integration, and is aesthetically pleasing.

Pros:

It is incredibly intuitive to use and took little training. I can easily create treatment plans as a doctor, see vital signs, immediately see important patient alerts, change doctors, assign a patient to myself I'm working on....the list goes on. It is an amazing software that has made my life in vet med much easier to navigate - both as a nurse, and now as a doctor!

Cons:

I have few cons - the main one is that it is hard to see the total # of doses of a certain medication a patient has received during its hospitalization stay. Would love a screen that brings up all formulations/doses of a medication at once.

Easy to use software with responsive customer support

5.0 last year

Comments: I have used Instinct for several years at a variety of veterinary hospitals and have found it very easy to use and teach others to use.

Pros:

Features such as medication dose calculators, BSA/RER calculation, and highly customizable treatment details and schedules make Instinct an easy-to-use software. It is integrated with our practice management software to automatically import patients that will be admitted to hospital. The Vitals tab tracks trends in vital parameters for a given patient. There are a lot of useful features (and the Instinct jokes and messages are a bonus Easter egg). I also LOVE that the Instinct background changes for National Veterinary Technician Week. Thank you for showing the love to your vet techs. I also like that the web version can be utilized from any device.

Cons:

I don't have any particular negative thoughts about Instinct.

Best practice software!

5.0 3 years ago

Pros:

There are so many things to appreciate about this software. From the beginning Instice staff has been very helpful with setting up and implemmenting this into our practice. The company QUICKLY responds to suggestions and customer service needs. It is very easy to use and offers many tools to make sure you are spending more time with you clients and patients, rather than on the computer or doing paperwork. I would recommend this over and over again. And the Plumb's guide is an incredible bonus.

Cons:

I cannot think of any complaints. Anything we felt could be better and suggested so, or needed to find a better way to use use the program they always have an answer or helpful information

It has truly revolutionized the way we operate, making our lives so much easier. This software is incredibly user-friendly, and the intuitive interface has streamlined our workflow. We can now easily access patient records, lab results, and treatment plans with just a few clicks, saving us valuable time. If you're looking to modernize your practice and enhance the veterinary experience for both your team and your clients, this software is a must-have. Highly recommended!

Cons:

They've made a commitment to roll out new features and updates every month, which gives us hope that the few gaps we've identified will be filled in the near future, such as inventory management and more third party integrations.

Instinct - A Necessity to Veterinary Hospitals

5.0 last year

Comments: I have loved working with Instinct, it has been my favorite veterinary software.

Pros:

- online treatment sheets with great visualization and trackability- ease of locating patient records- ease of following the schedule- ability to save snippets and templates- ability to have multiple people work on a document

Cons:

- automatic log outs when reading through records (thinks your inactive)

Cons:

cannot void charges but have no other complaints

Instinct Science Response

Hi Krista, Thank you for taking the time to review Instinct and for your positive feedback! We wanted to address how you can void charges--this is something that can be done in Instinct under the Invoice tab. You can select the 3 dot menu next to the line item you would like to void and then select “Void”. You can also use the bulk edit option at the bottom of the invoice screen to bulk edit (void) multiple line items at once. If you are currently unable to see the void option, it may be that your permissions are not set for this. This can be altered by one of your hospital admins. Feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] or via support chat (chat bubble icon in the bottom left navy sidebar) and we can always help guide you further. Best, Caroline

Seamless patient care and charting

5.0 last year

Pros:

The ease of use for intensive ICU care is amazing. Doctors and staff can provide the best possible care for a patient and stay aware of changes in the patient's status in real time.

Cons:

Anesthetic charting is great, but could use a few small improvements.
