Integral part of our office

5.0 2 years ago

Pros:

The way I can customize reports and queries to produce the information that I need in the format that I need.

Cons:

Microsoft had said it was going to discontinue the program, so we changed before that happened and struggle with a different approach for two years before realizing they had changed their mind and kept it. It can be challenging to format the reports, but I eventually figure it out.

Still the best product in the market

Comments: Access is a learning curve, but you can crib a lot of useful code from forums online.

Pros:

You can design very sophisticated and feature rich applications with little or no development skills if you do have VBA skills then you can do even more with it

Cons:

there is almost too much information out there from developer forums but hard to find anything direct from Microsoft that trains you in Access or VBA development.

Desktop DBMS that's hard to beat

5.0 11 months ago

Comments: I've been a professional Access developer since 1993 and have built a career from creating and maintaining applications built with it. Once you understand its gotchas and limitations, I think it offers one of the best ROIs for custom software development.

Pros:

RAD tools for building forms and reports in a fraction of the time of other systems. Many options for migrating back-end database to other databases.

Cons:

I wish there were better tools for version control, query optimization, tuning, and integration with web APIs and JSON.

Creates Databases with Ease

5.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: This is by far the hest software for creating databases ive ever used. It helps create databases for medical data entry that companies still use 20 years later.

Pros:

I love how easy it is to create databases for companies with this software. The graphics are awsome and it gives you all the settings and options on a easy to use platform.

Cons:

It sometimes has trouble importing files from other databases not created with Access giving you a mess to clean up.

MS Access - User Review

4.0 3 years ago

Comments: Overall experience is great, I can still do most of my tasks in terms of running report and data analysis.

Pros:

I used it frequently at work, the most I like about this software is relatively easy to use especially for beginners who wish to start learning how to run report for data management. Fairly speaking, users are required some understandings on table structure and database connections before start using this product. I found it interesting though as I have been using MS Access past 15 years with my current job, and I still find that there are many more to learn of this software.

Cons:

One thing I came across the compatibility issue with MS Access, e.g. when IT created a brand new table with SQL, and I am using Oracle to connect the newly created table, and for some reason MS Access unable to open up the table although I can connect the new table without issue. In short, I can use MS Access to connect the table, but can not open the table in MS Access. Our IT support team can open the same table with SQL though. I have a feeling this may have something to do with Windows 10 settings, but I am not that technically enough to troubleshoot, unfortunately our IT support group couldn't figure out my problem even now. The reason why I said I have feeling to do with Windows 10, it is because prior my company upgrade our OS to Windows 10, I am able to connect tables without any issues, and after OS upgraded and then IT created some new tables during new projects deployment, then I stared having issue with those newly created table.

Pros:

"It is a viable and strong framework for information assortment and its administration. Simple to utilize and coordinate, you don"t should be a specialist to have the option to overseeing it."

Cons:

"The arrangement of the server was truly extreme. At the point when I needed to set it up on one of my clients' machines, it required me several hours to sort out where libraries were going wrong."

Good Database Tool

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: We've found we're able to store and query our data easily with Access. It's smooth and complete for a database tool. It works without issue - so no reason to look for something else.

Pros:

Microsoft Access is Microsoft's professional level product to address databases. Overall, I think it works really well, as many companies have adopted and use it, including my own. I love how it's Microsoft supported, so you can have confidence in its reliability. It relatively easy to use. It does require knowledge of databases and SQL, which may go without saying. My workplace uses Access for data storage, and it does well in its presentation and response from querying.

Cons:

Like a lot of Microsoft tools, they seems to be over blown with "bells and whistles". Microsoft Access definitely has many more options than I'll ever understand or know what to do with. This does give it a busy feel that can be intimidating, however, everything I've used with it has worked well.

Efficient data management software

4.0 3 years ago

Pros:

Microsoft Access provides an economical and efficient method for storing your data. Users can manipulate and organize date by creating tables and queries to suit business needs. Another strong point of Access is that it allows you to link data which are related such as customers can be easily linked to their orders or products to suppliers.

Cons:

It might take users some time to get familiar with the different features of manipulating data. Large amounts of data tend to cause the software to operate slower.

Your choices are limtied

5.0 last year

Comments: Access does it's job well for being a self contained DB program. There are "free" alternatives, that are good for using with access, but when starting from scratch I would still push for Access first.

Pros:

Access is Industry standard for in-house database and finance management in my opinion.

Cons:

Since Microsoft has gone 360/cloud, you seem to get a lot less value for the money. Previously a version of access or office could last you several years with updates, hence Microsoft's promise to update for life once you purchase a product - now you just can't purchase a product anymore, you have to "subscribe"

Works for specific programs and has been around a while

3.0 2 years ago

Pros:

We're able to use this program for our very intricate consignment program. We have also now been able to expand and use this for inventory purposes as well as pull reports.

Cons:

It's slow due to having to be on the server. I wish it functioned more as a CRM and could hold more customer info without slowing it down. I also wish it could integrate with more programs and apps.

Perfect for Running Reports and Data Analysis

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: I can create quality reports monthly, and I can analyze a lot of data using it. It's helped me with all my clients' projects. Microsoft users should definitely consider this product.

Pros:

It will save you time when creating a system that will only get used on one computer, enabling you to create reports in an easily accessible format. Reports and various forms are available, linked to a programming code using programming languages, and complex arithmetic operations executed using code stored in the application. Also, adding tables and linking them together is very easy.

Cons:

Large amounts of data tend to cause the software to operate slower and it can't be purchased separately.

Microsoft Access - complicated but powerful

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: I have used Access for multiple applications over my career in IT. It is a powerful tool that you can customize to your needs, if you have the knowledge of the tool.

Pros:

The ability to create a relational data base with multiple tables to provide a professional database application that can be customized to your business needs.

Cons:

Much too complicated for an average user. Knowledge of relational database is really needed to use it effectively.

Perfect database for any use

4.0 2 years ago

Pros:

What I like most about the database is its easy interface with other Microsoft products, especially excel and word. I can easily import from either software into the database and set up the database for easy reporting. It transforms data into actually information which can be used to make an actual decision in minutes.

Cons:

It becomes annoying to use when the database exceeds a certain size. Setting up the queries can be too technical for less tech savvy persons.

MS Access, a good alternative for small databases

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: The use that I have given to MS Access was for information management of small projects, which allowed me to enter data through forms and then obtain the results that I wanted as documents that I could then easily export to MS Excel, this was more comfortable than Enter the data directly into MS Excel.

Pros:

MS Access is included in all MS Office packages, making it a viable alternative for small business database management or personal use. Besides being part of MS Office, it interacts better with other programs like MS Excel.

Cons:

For large or medium-sized companies it is not a good alternative, its use becomes very complex and requires many computing resources compared to alternatives designed for that volume of data. In addition, it only works on Windows operating systems, which greatly limits its use.
